Presentation of LNFP The lab Functional Neuroscience and Pathologies (LNFP) is a CNRS (National Center for Scientific Research) lab since January 2004. It is headed by Dr Muriel Boucart (director of research). The LNFP is located in two university hospitals (Lille and Amiens) and it is associated to the faculty of medicine of university Lille2. The main originality of the lab is that it includes clinicians from 3 medical domains (neurology, psychiatry and ophthalmology, all of them in adults and children).
The research activities of the LNFP are centered on experimental and theoretical studies of the mechanisms underlying visual and spatial cognition, multisensory integration, attentional processes and executive functions. Our research is based on two objectives: (1) for basic research the objective is to take advantage from a pathology to understand the underlying cognitive processing and its neural basis. (2) for applied research the objective is to identify the deficits induced by a pathology or a pharmacological agent to improve the diagnosis, develop rehabilitation methods, and to determine a vulnerability for a specific pathology. Main research axes: -
Recognition of objects, faces and scenes Orientation perception and navigation Attentional control an dits neurological maturation Unconscious perception and hallucinations Emotional regulation Auditive cognition Cognitive control of action
These questions are studies in relations to ophtalmic pathologies (maculopathies, glaucoma, retinisis pigmentosa), psychiatric pathologies (schizophrenia, autism, PTSD) and neurological pathologies (spatial neglect, agnosia, Alzheimer disease, Benson syndrome, ADHD). These lesional or functional pathologies are used as model to understand a function. .
